Additional Learning Needs

Every child is unique, and we recognise that all children learn in different ways. Teachers adapt their lessons to meet the needs of all pupils in their class. If a child has particular strengths or needs extra support with learning, we make sure the right help is put in place.

Children identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN) are placed on the SEN register. Parents and carers are involved as early as possible and are kept informed about their child’s progress. We use the Local Authority platform Tyfu to manage referrals and reviews.

More Able and Talented (MAT) pupils are also identified so that they can be appropriately challenged and supported. By meeting the needs of all learners, we help every child achieve their best.

Mrs Thomas is our Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo).  Miss Price and Mrs Driscoll are trained ELSA practitioners and provide support for children who may need help with their emotions or wellbeing.

Our Health and Wellbeing Centre (HWB)

Our Health and Wellbeing Centre (HWB) is a calm and welcoming space where children can receive extra support with their emotional wellbeing. Pupils who need additional help can attend the HWB during the afternoons.

The HWB is run by Mrs Whitehead, a trained ELSA and MELSA support assistant, who provides caring, structured support tailored to each child’s needs.

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 can also access support from Area 43, giving older children the opportunity to speak to trained professionals if they need further help.

We also work closely with a range of professionals, including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and the school nurse, to make sure every child receives the right support.
