Welcome to the first term in Reception Class! Your child beginning full-time education often comes with lots of mixed feelings for your child and of course, for you as parents. This is an exciting time! Please feel assured and confident that all the children beginning here with us in Llanfaes are going to be happy and enjoy many achievements. We are looking forward to working in partnership with you, to ensure your child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Throughout the year, all pupils will take part in enriching experiences including school trips, engaging in Fresh air Friday and Amser Enfys challenges that link to all six areas of learning from the new curriculum of Wales.

In this busy and rewarding year, it is filled with opportunities for all pupils to grow in confidence, skills and teamwork while celebrating all achievements together as a whole. By the end of the year the goal is that all children are well equipped to face new exciting challenges head on.

Class Routine

PE is on Fridays – PE kits can be left in school for each half term Outdoor Learning is an integral part of everyday. However, there will be a planned ‘focused’ task every Tuesday afternoon in the school grounds. Children will need wellies and if possible, a set of waterproofs to keep in school for this session. We will be going out in all weathers.

Reading – Reading books and word wallets will be sent home regularly (end of September) Please return them to school everyday. Word wallets will contain initial sound cards and/or decodable and tricky word cards. Practise these cards as often as possible. Make a second set and play games like ‘snap’,etc.

Remember to always use the letter sound, not the letter name when practising any reading or writing with your child.
