Values and Ethos

At Llanfaes School, the wellbeing of every pupil and member of staff is a top priority. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued, respected and able to succeed.

We believe that every child deserves the same opportunities to learn, grow and achieve their potential. We are committed to providing equality in education and opportunity for all pupils and staff, as well as for everyone who receives services from our school. This is regardless of disability, race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, or marriage and civil partnership.

We work hard to build a culture of inclusion and diversity where everyone connected with the school feels proud of who they are and able to take part fully in all aspects of school life.

At Llanfaes School the success and progress of every pupil is at the centre of everything we do. We regularly review pupils’ progress so we can provide the right support, raise standards and ensure that teaching meets the needs of all learners.

We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We actively promote equality, challenge bullying and stereotypes, and create an environment where respect for others is expected and celebrated. At our school, we believe that diversity is a strength and something that enriches our whole community.

If inappropriate views or behaviour occur, they will always be addressed. When pupils make inappropriate remarks, staff will explain clearly why the behaviour is not acceptable and help them understand how to treat others with respect.

In our everyday work we promote equality of opportunity and aim to ensure that every pupil has the chance to succeed and achieve their very best.

We recognise our responsibility under the Equality Act 2010 to promote equality for all members of our school community. This includes pupils, staff, parents, carers and visitors, regardless of their protected characteristics.

To support this commitment, we have developed a Strategic Equality Plan (SEP) in consultation with our school community. This plan helps us ensure fairness, inclusion and equality are at the heart of everything we do.

Our governing body is committed to making sure the school remains inclusive and responsive to the needs of all pupils. They will:

  • Ensure that job applicants are treated fairly and are not discriminated against.

  • Take all reasonable steps to make sure the school environment is accessible to people with disabilities.

  • Make communication with pupils, parents and carers as inclusive and accessible as possible.

  • Ensure that every child in our school is treated fairly and protected from discrimination.

Together, we aim to create a school where everyone feels safe, respected and able to thrive.
